Child Support Case Specialist

Forest County Potawatomi Community is seeking a Child Support Case Specialist. The role involves initiating and enforcing child support orders, assisting in court, and monitoring case management systems to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Initiates actions to establish paternity, child support orders, and income withholding orders under guidelines set by tribe
Initiates enforcement action on non-paying child support cases by making phone calls to non-paying parents, filing orders and issuing income withholding orders, filing liens of various types, and filing prosecuting attorney and interstate referrals
Assists -Manager in court by providing the necessary information and documentation on cases referred; Present in court on assigned cases
Monitors case management system for case functions, including informing clients of late or uncollected payments to assist in appropriate collections actions to keep clients current and calculates allocations for distributions
Reviews of statistical and financial reports to determine correctness, completeness, and adherence to federal regulations
Prepares and provides timely required paperwork and reports on assigned caseload to ensure proper notice and actions and the status of each case
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information and performs other duties as required

Required

Associate's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field
Three years in the social service field, child support, legal, combination of above
One to three years of legal writing experience
Must have a valid, clean driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance
Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field
Experience with MTS (Model Tribal System) computer systems
