Rush University Medical Center is seeking a System Director for Infection Prevention and Clinical Effectiveness. This role supports the Quality and Clinical Effectiveness Program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and leading infection prevention initiatives across the system.

Responsibilities
Develop, oversee, implement, and evaluate the system-wide Infection Prevention and Control Plan, program goals, and performance metrics as well as the Performance Improvement and Quality Program
Oversees surveillance, outbreak investigation activities in collaboration with hospital epidemiologists and Infection Prevention teams across the Rush system
Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements (NHSN, IDPH, CDC); Coordinates the continuous survey readiness program and ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and IDPH standards
Provides expert guidance for construction and renovation projects to minimize infection risk and ensure adherence to infection control design standards
Partners with Employee Health Services to support vaccination programs, exposure management, and infection-related employee health initiatives
Coordinates system-wide preparedness and response to emerging pathogens, infectious disease outbreaks, and biothreats
Integrates quality and infection prevention priorities with the strategic goals of Rush Oak Park Hospital and the RUSH System
Provides operational and budgetary oversight as the System Director Infection Prevention and Clinical Effectiveness
Supervises infection preventionists, and other departmental staff, ensuring competency and professional growth
Promotes collaboration across hospital entities to standardize best practices and achieve system-level improvement in quality and safety outcomes
Supports infection prevention education, professional development, and academic research collaboration throughout the system
Supports medical staff peer review activities and ensures timely dissemination of reports to hospital committees and staff
Serves as Chair or Co-Chair of the System Infection Prevention Committee and liaison to system executive leadership
Leads organizational initiatives aligned with the hospital’s performance improvement plan and quality goals
Qualification
Required
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Illinois
Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in hospital quality improvement, performance measurement, or infection prevention leadership
Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
Demonstrated expertise in performance improvement and infection prevention methodologies
Expertise in applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements (Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, IDPH)
Proficient in interpreting complex data and translating findings into actionable improvement plans
Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills across interdisciplinary teams
Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams and leading quality or infection prevention initiatives
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, quality databases, and reporting software
Strong working knowledge of performance improvement models (PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma)
Preferred
Master's degree in nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Experience in a multi-hospital health system leadership role
