Responsibilities

Developing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols and emergency preparedness plans across clinical practices
Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, enhances staff readiness, and supports a culture of safety and resilience throughout the medical group
Regularly interface with leadership, physicians, nursing staff, patients and frontline team members, engaging in rounding and process improvement
Execute organizational strategy and drive change initiatives to optimize organizational potential and achieve operational objectives
Through comprehensive onsite assessments/surveys, document/plan reviews, data analysis, advisory consultation and collaboration with leaders, team members, external agency and industry leaders, identify priorities for improvement and spread best practices to mitigate physical environmental, occupational and general safety risks
Ensures education/training, proactive assessment and problem solving for the safety of team members and general safety education to team members, leaders and providers throughout the state, while optimizing IU Health’s resources

Qualification

Healthcare Emergency Preparedness CertificationHospital Incident Command System (HICS)NIMSOSHA standardsStrategic partnerships developmentCommunication skillsLeadership skillsProject management skills

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required
Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience
Certification in Healthcare Emergency Preparedness (CHEP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
Strong knowledge of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), NIMS and OSHA standards
Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills

Preferred

Experience developing strategic partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders and external key local community leaders to ensure inclusive safety planning and disaster preparedness preferred
