Responsibilities
Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you will observe three to four patients
Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected
Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers, ambulation
Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician
Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma or GED
Preferred
Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within three months of hire
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs
