Health Information Technology Data Analytics Analyst I

Cherokee Nation is seeking a Health Information Technology Data Analytics Analyst I to design and implement data extraction and analysis processes for their Health Services system. The role involves working with healthcare providers and stakeholders to coordinate the implementation of clinical and financial documentation tools while ensuring data accuracy and relevance.

Responsibilities

Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards
Maintains strict confidentiality of information, internally and externally, with a working knowledge of HIPAA compliance
Manages user data requirements and functional specifications
Analyzes healthcare data using statistical software and tools
Ensures that data is accurate, clean, and relevant
Designs, develops, and maintains reports
Performs data modeling to evaluate structured and unstructured data
Creates visual representations for analysis presentation
Documents data requests using department forms and follows set procedures for proper data distribution
Understands work priorities with the ability to manage multiple tasks, control work inventories, and complete activities in an appropriate and timely manner
Develops, enhances, and supports data models and reporting applications (e.g. reports, dashboards, data visualizations) in support of end-users needs
Provides recommendations for improving data quality and completeness
Applies critical thinking by independently responding to and resolving routine technical customer requests received via multiple channels while using a variety of applications, tools, databases, and other resources
Works in partnership with Health IT Data Analytics team to design solutions to various reporting problems
Remains current with how all information is collected, maintained, and reported in the system
Identifies data uses and analysis opportunities that are currently not employed
Monitors healthcare data trends to identify emerging issues
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Epidemiology, Finance, Mathematics, Public Health, or other quantitative field

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

Preferred

At least one (1) year of experience in a related clinical or Health Information Technology field preferred
At least one (1) year of experience in Analytical and/or Business Intelligence report creation preferred
Experience with manual data manipulation tasks, SQL query design and optimization, visualization tools, and data modeling to evaluate structured and unstructured data
Knowledge of database structure, healthcare workflows, and terminology
Exposure to statistical software such as R or Python
