Oracle Database Administrator, IRS

ThunderYard Solutions is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a critical Internal Revenue Service (IRS) program. The ideal candidate will manage and maintain Oracle database environments while ensuring compliance with IRS security standards and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

Administer, maintain, and support Oracle database environments in compliance with IRS security and operational standards
Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning
Monitor database performance, capacity, and availability; proactively resolve issues
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance with federal and IRS regulations
Support production and non-production environments, including troubleshooting and incident resolution
Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and security teams
Document database configurations, procedures, and operational processes
Provide on-call or after-hours support as required by mission needs

Required

Active IRS MBI Clearance (must be current and verifiable)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
Oracle Certified Master Java EE Enterprise Architect (OEMJEA)
Strong experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and high-availability architectures
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills
Must be physically located in or able to commute to Dallas, TX or Washington, DC
Willing and able to work in a hybrid model (combination of on-site and remote work)

Preferred

Experience supporting federal government or IRS systems preferred
Prior experience supporting IRS or other Treasury Department systems
Familiarity with federal security frameworks (FISMA, NIST, etc.)
Experience in Agile or DevSecOps environments
