Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking an Executive Director of Heart and Vascular Services to provide overall leadership and management for their cardiology and cardiac surgery programs. The role includes strategic planning, business development, and ensuring quality patient care while adhering to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Business Development
Create business plans in concert with others, particularly the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, the Chief Physician Relations Officer, and the Director of Planning and Performance Analytics
Implement business strategies to enhance market share, taking the lead with physician recruiters, marketing, medical group leaders, and senior executives
Service Line Management
Provide effective administrative management for assigned clinical areas on a 24-hour basis by planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care
Lead the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives and related policies and procedures
Ensure the clinical and operational efficacy in all aspects of cardiac, vascular, and cardiac surgical care
Ensure that all services are adhering to all regulatory requirements and guidelines
Provide all pertinent reports and approvals to the Leadership Council
Assure development and implementation of outcomes management and performance targets with a Balanced Scorecard that includes patient satisfaction surveys, CV registry performance, agreed upon clinical indicators, and employee satisfaction and staff retention
Prepare an Annual Business and Clinical Plan for review and approval
Engage in bi-weekly meetings with Nursing Leadership, as determined by the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer
Ensure conformance with Magnet standards to include unit-based shared governance structure
Assist with the maintenance of standards for competency of nursing staff
Engage in bi-weekly meetings with the Chief of Cardiac Surgery
Ensure adequate staffing, facilities, and coordination of purchasing in collaboration with the Chief of Supply Chain Management
Engage in bi-weekly meetings with the Chief of Cardiology
Ensure adequate staffing, facilities, and coordination of purchasing in collaboration with the Chief of Supply Chain Management
Engage in monthly meetings with Medical Directors
Ensure smooth operations to include scheduling and staff education
Engage in monthly meetings with the Chief Physician Relations Officer and management team members within the Chesapeake Regional Medical Group
Actively participate in the recruitment and selection of key physicians and paraprofessionals
Engage in monthly meetings with the Chief of Human Resources
Direct and coordinate work, select and hire staff, manage personnel in accordance with CRH’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures and the organization’s Code of Conduct
Engage in monthly meetings with the Chief Medical Officer
Prepare necessary information related to the Value Analysis Committee
Report any matters regarding Peer Review
Fosters alignment with the Medical Staff, Quality Department and Risk Management
Develop budgetary recommendations, capital and operating, in concert with the CEO, Leadership Council, and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer
Performance Improvement/Quality Oversight
Assure service line performance is based on the Peake of Care high reliability principles utilizing national registries to guide identification of focused areas and measure improvement
Lead and support Heart and Vascular committees and group meetings (does not apply to Peer Review and related Medical Staff activities)

Required

At least 5 years as a Director within Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, or CV Service Line Administration in a tertiary setting with demonstrated knowledge of operations, finance, and expansion of services
Demonstrated experience building clinical teams committed to creating a high reliability organization
MHA, MBA, or related Master's degree
Clinical background viewed as a plus
