Business Development Associate, Private Equity
King & Sykes is a leading Technology & Infrastructure-focused private equity fund seeking a Business Development Associate to join its New York City office. This role focuses on deal origination, relationship development, and market coverage, working closely with senior investment professionals to source proprietary investment opportunities across the technology and infrastructure landscape.
Responsibilities
Support and execute the firm’s deal origination strategy across technology and infrastructure sectors
Identify, track, and qualify new investment opportunities through proactive outreach, thematic research, and market mapping
Develop and maintain relationships with investment banks, founders, management teams, advisors, and intermediaries
Conduct industry research and maintain detailed coverage lists and CRM systems
Prepare marketing materials, investment teasers, and internal briefing notes for senior deal professionals
Coordinate meetings, calls, and follow-ups with potential targets and external stakeholders
Monitor market trends, transaction activity, and competitive dynamics within covered sectors
Collaborate with the investment team to transition sourced opportunities into formal diligence processes
Qualification
Required
2–4 years of experience in Investment Banking, ideally within Technology, Infrastructure, Industrials, Power, Digital Infrastructure, or related coverage groups
Strong interest in business development, deal sourcing, and relationship-driven roles within private equity
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional, commercial mindset
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams
Comfortable with outbound outreach and building long-term professional relationships
Strong analytical and presentation skills; advanced Excel and PowerPoint preferred
Bachelor's degree from a top-tier academic institution
