Field Engineering Manager

Responsibilities
Manage, mentor, and support Field Engineers and technicians across experience levels
Coach engineers through hands on technical problem solving
Identify skill gaps and support technical and leadership growth
Balance workload and travel demands to maintain team health and prevent burnout
Own field deployment planning, prioritization, and execution across US fishing ports utilizing Asana. Similar project management software experience ideal
Act as the primary escalation point for complex or high impact field issues
Step in hands on when necessary to resolve difficult technical problems
Ensure deployments are well prepared, repeatable, and customer ready
Guide troubleshooting of electro mechanical, electrical, and software related issues
Help distinguish between field fixable issues and design level improvements
Support reliability improvements for systems operating in harsh environments
Review and improve installation, service, and maintenance practices
Serve as the bridge between Field Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering
Translate field learnings into clear, actionable feedback for upstream teams
Partner with Engineering leadership to improve deployment readiness and system reliability
Communicate clearly with fishermen and on site partners during deployments
Build and refine field processes, documentation, and escalation paths
Improve feedback loops from field to engineering to manufacturing
Help define and track metrics for field success such as uptime and repeat issues
Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training of future Field Engineers and technicians
Qualification
Required
8 plus years of experience working with electro mechanical systems in field, manufacturing, or deployment environments
2 plus years of experience leading or mentoring engineers or technicians, formally or informally
Strong hands on experience with power tools and industrial equipment
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems independently in the field
Clear communication skills across technical and non technical audiences
Willingness to travel approximately 20 percent to US fishing ports
Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Asana, Clickup, or similar tools
Preferred
Experience managing field, service, or deployment teams
Comfort working with Linux, command line tools, and basic software diagnostics
Experience with wiring harnesses, connectors, crimping, and industrial tooling
Background in robotics, automation, automotive, or industrial systems
Experience working in harsh or safety critical environments
