They are seeking an independent Engineering Project Management Consultant to support the design, development, and production lifecycle of fitness equipment for a well-established Ohio-based fitness brand.

Responsibilities
Leading the design, development, and production lifecycle of fitness equipment products
Defining and managing project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
Providing engineering support from concept development through post-launch production
Applying data-driven methodologies to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical and electronic (sensor-based) system challenges
Facilitating prototype testing, data collection, and validation for development and production products
Collaborating with China-based manufacturing partners on design iteration, testing protocols, and production readiness
Analyzing test and production data sets and proposing data-supported engineering solutions
Performing hands-on assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting of products and prototypes as required
Coordinating regularly with the Columbus-based customer team and the consulting group’s project stakeholders to align on progress and next steps
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
Significant experience in engineering, manufacturing, or production environments
Demonstrated success managing product development and manufacturing projects
Experience working in dynamic, fast-growth settings requiring rapid decision-making and adaptability
Comfort operating autonomously while coordinating with multiple stakeholders
Ability to support on-site collaboration in Columbus, Ohio during key project phases
Access to and use of the consultant's own computer equipment and transportation
Familiarity with collaborative tools such as Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Slides
Availability for occasional domestic and international travel (estimated 2–4 trips per year)
Preferred
Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools
Background in consumer products manufacturing
Prior collaboration with China-based suppliers
Experience in the sports or fitness industry
Exposure to electronics, robotics, or industrial engineering
Experience applying statistical or data-driven analysis in engineering contexts
