Akkodis Group Nordics is seeking a Mainframe Tech Lead for a contract position in North Quincy, MA. The role involves leading mainframe development, ensuring high-quality delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams while utilizing strong expertise in PL/I, COBOL, DB2, JCL, and CICS.

Responsibilities

Lead and review the work of mainframe developers, ensuring adherence to coding standards and technical best practices
Develop and enhance applications using COBOL, PL/I, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related mainframe technologies
Troubleshoot and resolve defects during testing cycles, including analyzing logs and fixing job abends in batch and online environments
Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) to streamline development, testing, and delivery processes
Optimize system performance through strong debugging skills, SQL stored procedure enhancements, and design pattern best practices
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, manage task priorities, and provide technical guidance to support continuous delivery

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
10+ years of experience in mainframe development, with strong hands‑on expertise in COBOL, PL/I, DB2, JCL, and CICS
Proven ability to lead development teams, review code, and ensure high‑quality delivery across batch and online mainframe applications
Strong debugging and optimization skills with experience in SQL stored procedures, job abend resolution, and Agile development practices
