Responsibilities

Maintain electrical safety equipment to conform to ANL inspections/requirements
Under the direction of Engineers and Chief Technician: Maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair items such as, controls system components, interlock systems, custom modules, electronics chassis, programmable logic controllers, PS equipment and other similar electronic equipment
Fabricate and assemble custom PS chassis, circuit boards and other electronic equipment following IPC standards and other quality workmanship standards
Proficiency in the use of soldering stations, hand and power tools, and general shop equipment is required
Maintain electronic system wiring, covering electrical and PS technologies, fabrication, installation, and testing of instrumentation
Diagnose and fix simple to complex problems affecting accelerator electrical and electronic systems using a variety of tools, devices, software, equipment and instrumentation
Maintain logs and technical documentation by taking measurements and recording observations related to electrical and electronic system maintenance, system performance, and system modifications
Participate in wide ranging activities such as: cable pulling, coordination of activities among other groups, documentation/configuration control and diagnosing problems on complex electronic equipment and computer-based systems
Perform in a team environment with changing priorities

Required

Experience with high-power PS systems, including testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Proficiency in circuit board assembly, including soldering, component placement, and quality inspection
Ability to service and modify model boards, adapting them for testing and optimization purposes
Component-level troubleshooting skills, particularly in PS electronics, using test equipment like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes
Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation related to power supply circuits and systems
Knowledge of industry standards and safety protocols for working with PS systems
This position requires an on-site presence at the Argonne campus in Lemont, Illinois five days per week – The selected candidate should be available for on-call and call-in support when assigned
