Senior Electrical Engineer - Space RF Systems
AeroVironment (AV) is a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems and tactical missile systems. They are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join their dynamic team, focusing on designing high-speed digital electronics and conducting analysis of analog circuits for space RF systems.

Responsibilities
Design high speed digital electronics including the use of ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers
Design and conduct analysis of analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers
Provide expertise for both product development and R&D efforts
Collaborate with peers, leads, and managers to develop, review, and refine designs and analyses to meet program technical needs within defined time and budget constraints
Work within a broad-disciplined program team providing expertise in support of electronics manufacturing and test
Qualification
Required
BS degree in electrical engineering
8 years' experience in design, analysis, integration, and test of custom electronics
Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (such as Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx, and MS Office)
Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability
Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
Current and active US security clearance
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction
Preferred
10, or more, years' engineering experience
Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements
Experience designing custom electronics for space products
Experience designing to a defined requirements set
Experience with analysis necessary for high-reliability space electronics hardware (Electrical stress analysis, worst case circuit analysis, and reliability analysis)
Experience and understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes
Experience producing board layouts is a plus
Understanding of relevant IPC standards needed for electrical design and fabrication
Experience leading sub-assemblies or circuit card designs with small teams of two or three
Experience developing and conducting testing of complex electronic sub-assemblies along with design of special test equipment (STE)
Experience deriving sub-assembly requirements from higher-level, flowed down, system requirements and defining test methodologies
Experience developing design & verification documentation (Interface Control Document/Drawings (ICD), Design Description Document (DDD), Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reports, etc.)
Written and verbal communication skills necessary to present designs to internal and external stakeholders
Able to complete assigned work within a defined timeline and budget
