Environmental Electrical Design Engineer
JVA, Inc. is seeking a full-time Water and Wastewater Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering team. The role involves assisting in the design and implementation of electrical systems for water and wastewater projects, including preparation of design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

Responsibilities
Assist Senior Engineer in developing a narrative for the scope of work associated with electrical and instrumentation and controls system engineering design for various water and wastewater projects
Perform calculations for all electrical aspects of a project
Prepare electrical design drawing and specifications including: One-line diagrams, Instrumentation diagrams, Electrical site plans, power plans, lighting plans, and instrumentation and control plans for structures and water/wastewater processes, Control Equipment Schematics, Cable and conduit schedules, Conductor sizing, Lightning protection, Lighting and power distribution, Motor Starting equipment, Service utility coordination, Panel Schedules and layout, UPS/Generator sizing, PLC and associated components, SCADA, and HMI-based systems, Control narratives for processes, Radio telemetry SCADA systems using microwave, spread spectrum, licensed MAS, cellular or other radio technologies, Network overview, ISA data sheets and instrument sites
Prepare planning level technical memorandums and reports related to electrical, instrumentation, and controls for various water and wastewater projects
Interpret electrical codes (Building, NEC, etc.) for implementation in design drawings/specifications
Accurately designate hazardous area locations
Perform construction observation and administration for the electrical and controls scope
Follow the Mission & Vision Statement set forth by JVA, Inc
Positively contribute to JVA and local office culture
Qualification
Required
Degree and Credential Requirements: NONE! We value candidates who can demonstrate capability and articulate how prior experiences will help them contribute
Ability to obtain EIT Certification within 1 year of hire: Have the required combination years of accredited education to be able to obtain an Engineer-in-Training Certification in the state of Colorado within one year of hire
Ability to obtain PE License within 5 years of hire: Shall have the required years of accredited education to be able to obtain an Electrical Professional Engineer License within five years of hire
Basic Understanding of Programmable Logic Control Systems: Ability to understand basic programming concepts and functionalities
Capability to read and understand technical engineering documents
Critical Thinking: Evaluate designs or specifications to ensure quality
Prioritize and Pivot Effectively: Produce high quality deliverables while balancing work on a variety of projects and priorities to support multiple project teams and deadlines
Collaboration: Successfully work within a group to complete a project collectively
Initiative: Self-motivated to think ahead and proactively support project teams to problem solve and meet deadlines
Travel: Ability to travel within Colorado as needed on a per project basis
