Vice President, Healthcare Investments

Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities for new companies and follow-on investments, conducting comprehensive due diligence
Perform comprehensive industry research/analyses to support due diligence, refine investment themes, and develop thought leadership
Create financial models, analyze data and KPIs, conduct valuation analysis, and execute waterfall analyses to assess risk-return profile with financial analysis metrics such as IRR and MOIC
Author investment memorandums, present findings and recommendations to the Investment Committee and drive live discussions and Q&A about investment decisions
Review and interpret legal documents and capitalization tables related to investments, providing strategic input on deal structuring and terms
Prepare for and execute on company exits, which includes facilitating investment banker bake-offs, meetings with interested parties and investors, negotiating terms and adjustments, working closely with financial due diligence and legal service providers, and post-closing activities and public announcements
Provide strategic guidance and support to portfolio companies and work closely with founders and executive teams to drive growth and operational excellence
Actively participate in board meetings and assume board seats
Monitor and report on portfolio company performance, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
Contribute value-add connections and inputs to portfolio companies, including investor introductions, lender introductions, customer introductions, candidate referrals and interviews, etc
Support bi-annual portfolio company reports, summarizing key commercial milestones, financial metrics, and financing activities
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships within the venture capital ecosystem, including entrepreneurs, peers, co-investors, and industry experts to contribute to deal flow and brand development
Utilize prior network while building new contacts and syndicates, representing the OCA brand positively and accurately
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or health-related/STEM field with strong complementary business acumen/education
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in venture capital/early stage investing
Additional experience in growth/private equity, investment banking, consulting, product management, go-to-market, clinical practice and/or start-up companies
Passionate about healthcare and technology, with experience working in/with virtual care, health IT, pharma IT/services, and life sciences companies
Robust analytical, due diligence, and financial modeling skills
Deep understanding of venture capital investment structures, terms and security types, capitalization tables and waterfall analyses
Excellent writing and communication skills, communicating deep quantitative rigor and complex ideas with executive-presence and framing
Demonstrated level of courage, grit and empathy to foster strong relationships with entrepreneurs
Flexibility to act as a leader and supporter with a strong EQ and IQ
Displays solid intellectual honesty, curiosity, and willingness to learn and grow
Disciplined self-starter and effective problem-solver who operates independently with minimal direction
Willingness to embrace uncertainty and take calculated risks
Proven analytical, quantitative and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills across all levels of the firm
Ability to confidently work with and present to the Investment Committee/Partners

MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred
