Senior Operations Manager

Responsibilities

Lead daily plant operations across two value streams and multiple production cells, ensuring alignment with established goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors and manufacturing employees to ensure operational excellence and workforce engagement
Direct scheduling and sequencing of work to meet production goals, optimize workflow, and ensure on-time delivery
Drive cost reduction, process improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Manages objectives for operating budgets, capital plans and cost savings targets. Ensures that utilization and labor efficiency are achieved, and sales output is realized
Partner with Value Stream’s Engineering, Quality, and Production Control team members to ensure production goals, customer requirements, and process standards are consistently achieved
Champion safety programs, including behavior-based safety and job hazard analysis, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment
Champions change through the active support of Continuous Improvement tools and processes. Leads and supports all Operational continuous improvement processes and initiatives to include Visual Management Strategy, Layout Linkage Flow, and 5S
Analyze production and labor data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and drive performance improvements
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for operational growth and innovation—including advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing
Manage staffing plans, recruitment, training, and performance development initiatives to build a skilled and motivated workforce. Ensures all training and skills are assessed to ensure no critical skills gaps
Works to support the Value Stream Program Manager and our Naval customers to understand their needs, help resolve issues, and ensure superior service and product delivery
Drives employee engagement / positive culture and executes strategic workforce planning initiatives
Standardizes best practices across operations and business processes. Ensures adherence to our Operational rhythm to include Tier meetings, IPT construct, Gemba boards, RCCA, recovery plans, hiring, etc

Required

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Current or previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with people management
On Site Leadership Experience such as People Management Skills, Conflict Resolution, Policy Compliance or Employee Career Progression
Experience leading and sustaining a Continuous Improvement culture

Preferred

Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or Business
Background in manufacturing operations, including chemical processing, machining, metal fabrication, or composites
Hands-on experience applying Lean Toyota Production System, Six Sigma, or other manufacturing methods to improve safety, quality, and throughput
Experience with Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) or similar production planning processes
Knowledge of Naval Customer and DoD ITAR Products
Experience working in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment
Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) or Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)
5+ years experience leading operations supervisors or managers
5+ years experience working in an ISO regulated manufacturing facility
3+ years experience working with the Lean / Toyota Production System in a manufacturing environment
3+ year experience working with CNC machining operations
Experience launching and supporting new programs or production lines in a manufacturing environment
