Sr. Manager Manufacturing Engineering

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process and automation engineers to deliver operational and strategic objectives
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development planning
Build technical capability through targeted training and knowledge-sharing programs
Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, yield, and reliability
Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions for process deviations and incidents
Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies to drive sustainable improvements
Serve as a technical resource to Operations, EHS, QA, QC, and Procurement for daily problem-solving and incident investigations
Ensure systematic oversight and optimization of critical plant systems (e.g., HVAC, compressed air, water, electrical, fire protection, scrubbers, thermal oxidizers, security, buildings & grounds) to maintain compliance and operational readiness
Support regulatory, compliance, and audit activities aligned with industry and internal standards
Drive automation strategies to modernize packaging, filling, labeling, and material handling operations
Evaluate, select, and implement new automation and control technologies to improve throughput, safety, and data integrity
Partner with Maintenance, IT, and Quality to ensure robust system integration and lifecycle management
Leverage digital tools, analytics, and manufacturing data systems to optimize workflows and asset utilization
Translate best practices from chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or other regulated industries to strengthen site performance
Lead and support process verification and validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ, to ensure compliant and capable operations
Develop and sustain SPC systems to monitor, control, and improve product and process quality
Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
Implement control charts and advanced statistical tools to drive process stability and capability
Champion site-wide continuous improvement culture and governance
Lead projects delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and customer performance
Establish performance metrics and standard work to sustain gains
Lead engineering and capital projects from concept and feasibility through design, execution, validation, and handoff to operations
Develop business cases, manage annual CapEx planning, and ensure disciplined project execution
Deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards
Align engineering roadmaps with site and divisional strategic objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (required) in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and packaging/filling operations
Proven track record of leading capital improvement projects at a manufacturing site (develop annual Capex budget, create, obtain approval, and complete individual Capex projects)
Proficiency in SPC and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment
Preferred
Master's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related field
Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
Demonstrated success leading automation implementation projects in filling, labeling, or packaging operations
