5+ years expThe Town of Scarborough is seeking a highly motivated and experienced full-time Deputy Planning Director to perform managerial, technical and administrative zoning and planning work within the Planning and Codes Department. This position plays a key role in interpreting, articulating, and enforcing zoning and land use ordinances, while assisting in the overall operation of the Planning and Codes Department.

Qualification
Required
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in land-use planning, public administration, civil engineering, landscape architecture, landscape design, or a related field
Professional experience in planning and/or development design and review
Strong knowledge of municipal land use planning principles, zoning and development regulations
Ability to read and interpret plans and design standards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, officials, applicants, and the public
Proficiency with common computer applications and GIS
Availability to work evenings and weekends, as required
Preferred
A master's degree in planning or a related field is desirable but not required
Five years of progressively responsible experience in a complex municipal environment is preferred
