Responsibilities

Support for Industrial Control Systems for equipment and facilities as they relate to Automated Material Handling Systems, Building/Utility Control Systems, and Electronic Security Systems
Serves as technical expert for installing and maintaining Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS) software and components
Assists in the design, integration, operation, training, deployment, maintenance, and protection of electronic assets used in support of the Engineering Division’s mission
Participates in developing and forecasting budgets for annual and long-range projections to ensure implementation, operations, and maintenance , and lifecycle sustainment of the enterprise architecture
Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed engineering (control, building automation) systems to identify operational capabilities and limitations

A Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering
A combination of education and experience - college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology
One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position
Applying information systems security principles and concepts to implement information assurance (IA) programs, security initiatives, and report vulnerabilities
Serving as a technical expert responsible for the planning, design (system/cybersecurity/InfoSec), fielding, operation, protection, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of all components of the Industrial Controls System (ICS)
Applying Electronics Engineering concepts to design, develop, and manage the servers, workstations, applications, databases, protocol gateways, and physical/mechanical devices
Applying Electronics Engineering concepts to design, develop, and manage complex projects
Presenting the results of research conducted through analytical investigations to various venues such as discussions, meetings, fact sheets, reports, design documentation, briefings, and presentations
Applying Electronics Engineering concepts to design, develop, and manage intermediate-level projects
Applying Basic Electronics Engineering concepts to design, develop, and manage simple projects
Assisting with research and presentation of projects
Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education
To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess: GS-12: Education cannot be substituted in lieu of specialized experience
GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree
GS-07: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement
Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade levels GS-11, GS-09, and GS-07
Superior academic achievement at the baccalaureate level in an engineering program is qualifying for GS-7
A combination of superior academic achievement and 1 year of appropriate professional experience is qualifying at GS-9
Applicants with an engineering bachelor's degree who have appropriate experience as a technician equivalent to grade GS-5 or higher may have such experience credited for grade GS-7 only on a month-for-month basis up to a maximum of 12 months
Successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering is qualifying at GS-7
Completion of such a program and 1 year of appropriate professional experience is qualifying at grade GS-9
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Failure to provide all of the required information as stated in this vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating
