Responsibilities

Performing Branch program management, personnel supervisory and nonsupervisory technical and administrative work necessary for the development, planning, and administration of Branch assigned functions in accordance with the District mission and function statement, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and established program objectives
Supervising a subordinate staff of approximately 30 employees directly and indirectly through three subordinate supervisors, primarily involved in professional hydraulics engineering, hydrology, and hydrologic technician support work ranging in grades from GS-03 through GS-13
Oversight of Branch functions involving hydrologic and hydraulic design and analysis in the planning, design, construction, and operation of structures and waterways
Serving as functional program Chief and primary District Hydraulic Engineer, providing technical advice in the hydrology and hydraulic specialty areas to and through the Chief, Engineering and Construction Division, to other District elements, and serving in a technical/administrative advisory, coordinative, and representational/liaison capacity with regard to matters such as water quality, dam and levee safety, water management, research and development, and local, State, and Federal task forces and committees
Fulfilling first and second-level supervisory duties, including assigning and reviewing work, identifying training needs, and managing personnel matters

Required

A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, which includes: 1) Leadership; 2) Organizational Awareness; 3) Planning and Evaluating; 4) Technical Competence
Professional Engineer (PE) license upon start date
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possession to operate vehicles
U.S. citizenship
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment

Ability to complete a trial or probationary period if required
