MEMBER SERVICE CONSULTANT

Guardian Credit Union is seeking a Member Service Consultant to assist customers with a variety of financial products and services. The role involves providing financial planning services, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting loan interviews, and maintaining effective communication with members and the underwriting team.

Responsibilities

Provides financial planning services to members. Counsels members and prospective members about their financial needs and services. Reviews and follows up with the member on credit building process
Complies with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies
Conducts the loan interview and secures the member information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. Maintains or exceeds established loan goal throughout the year. Ensures member is protected by educating on the benefits of available products (Credit Life, Disability, GAP, MBP)
Serves as an effective liaison between the member and the Underwriting team by fully capturing member's story in loan notes to assist Underwriting in making sound decisions. Takes time to identify the appropriate solution for the member and makes recommendations accordingly
Verifies the quality, completeness and accuracy of loan applications. Performs work with accuracy and addresses identified errors in a timely manner
Communicate lending decisions in a manner that provides the member prompt and efficient service in a respectful manner. Maintains effective communication and positive interpersonal relationships with the branch team and other departments serving as a resource when needed

Required

Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions
A high school degree or GED is required
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job
Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator
Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary
Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management
Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance
Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision
Must work effectively as part of a team
Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions
Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence
Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy
Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public
Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace
Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters
