The intern will support the Marketing and Communications team by creating and managing communications materials, organizing media coverage, and participating in social media activities.

Responsibilities
Research, write, and edit copy for marketing and communications materials, including media advisories and press releases; composer and guest artist biographical information; website copy; and digital stories
Collate, archive, and organize media coverage; update and maintain media lists
Pitch, research, and write stories about the orchestra, its people, and its programs for the orchestra’s digital magazine, SLSO Stories
Support Public Relations functions, including interview preparation, media pitches, press kit creation and maintenance, and media events
Support SLSO social media activities as needed
Participate in departmental and editorial meetings
Represent the SLSO at the marketing table at occasional night or weekend events
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be pursuing a career in marketing, communications or public relations; or are in pursuit of or have recently received a college degree, preferably in the fields of Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, Music, or Non-Profit Management
Demonstrated proficiency in writing, communication, and organization
Ability to work with confidential information
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Reliable transportation and ability to attend occasional night or weekend events
Under general direction, works from general objectives with little functional guidance
Preferred
Knowledge and passion for music a plus
