Responsibilities

Overseeing certification and repairs of bridge, gantry, whirler, and mobile cranes
Developing and issuing technical directions after thorough on-site troubleshooting and evaluations
Some circuit design may be required
Work closely with maintenance departments
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks
Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

Preferred

Climbing and working at heights is common
Candidate should have significant electrical engineering experience with electrical system design, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial equipment and/or crane/lifting and handling equipment
Supports crane breakdown response and certification cycles
Experience with VFD driven motors and radio controls for both AC & DC systems
Preferred proficiency in PLC programming, Auto CAD, and relevant electrical engineering software
Preferred to have knowledge of electrical codes, standard, and regulations
Self-motivated with strong leadership, effective communication, and computer skills are essential
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a focus on efficiency and reliability
Strong project management, collaboration, and organizational skills are preferred
Candidates may need the ability to be attain a security clearance and be TLD qualified
