Senior Compliance Representative

California Franchise Tax Board is seeking a Senior Compliance Representative to promote business entity compliance with state income and franchise tax-filing requirements. The role involves examining and responding to complex inquiries related to compliance practices and providing guidance to business entities regarding program requirements.

Responsibilities

Promote business entity compliance with state income and franchise tax-filing requirements
Examine and respond appropriately to the most sensitive and complex inquiries pertaining to statewide compliance practices, policies, legal issues applications and requests concerning the Voluntary Disclosure Program (VDP)
Directly respond to incoming telephone calls and correspondence providing information and guidance regarding program requirements for business entities
Review public facing communications for content and accuracy including, letters, web pages and informational publications

Required

Working knowledge of the Integrated Non-Compliance System (INC) Business Entity Tax System (BETS) Taxpayer Information System (TI) Taxpayer Folder (TPF) Case Management (CM), and comparable tax accounting software and systems
Properly making account adjustments/transactions in the INC, BETS, TI, TPF and CM, systems, and comparable tax accounting software and systems
Ability to interpret and accurately explain complex provisions of the California Revenue and Taxation Code, the Internal Revenue Code, public service bulletins, and other operating procedures regarding personal income tax law, filing requirements, filing enforcement practices, collection activities, while maintaining taxpayer privacy and data confidentiality requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Experience working in a contact center (telephone, correspondence, and email)
Result driven with a positive attitude

Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to effectively deal with the public and establish and maintain positive working relationships

Assist and responds to incoming telephone calls from the dedicated phone line. Provides information and guidance regarding the voluntary disclosure program requirements for business entities and individuals. Explains the application of applicable Revenue and Taxation Codes to callers to ensure filing accuracy and compliance
