Responsibilities

Helps to manage end-to-end print shop operations including intake, job planning, scheduling, production, finishing, packaging, and fulfillment
Ensure production quality standards, brand consistency, and adherence to turnaround times, deadlines, and service levels
Oversee equipment utilization, preventative maintenance coordination, and vendor support partnerships
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment (e.g., chemical handling, equipment safety, ergonomics)
Establish and execute an operational strategy that aligns print shop capacity with business needs and demand fluctuations
Identify, analyze, and eliminate operational bottlenecks across production and fulfillment
Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce rework, improve cycle time, and optimize costs
Standardize work practices, improve documentation, and implement scalable systems for job intake, prioritization, and tracking
Use metrics to evaluate performance and drive data-informed decisions (e.g., throughput, on-time delivery, error rates, reprint rates, utilization)
Collaborate with other leader(s) to ensure expectations are aligned within team and process changes
Lead, coach, and develop a team of print operators and fulfillment staff; build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Set expectations, create schedules, assign work, and balance workload for efficient coverage and performance
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management to strengthen skills and bench strength
Promote cross-training to increase flexibility and resilience during peak periods
Partner with internal stakeholders (Internal Branches, Marketing, Procurement, etc.) to align priorities and manage expectations
Improve cross-department workflow by clarifying intake requirements, service-level agreements, proofing standards, and production timelines
Partner to communicate status updates, risks, and capacity constraints clearly and proactively
Help oversee the tracking and managing of inventory for paper, ink, toner, finishing supplies, packaging materials, and shipping needs
Support budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and purchasing to reduce waste and improve margin efficiency
Manage external print/fulfillment vendors as needed, ensuring quality and cost effectiveness

Required

5+ years of experience in print production, in-house print operations, in a related fulfillment/production environment
2+ years of people leadership experience (supervisor or manager)
Demonstrated experience driving process improvement, operational optimization, and workflow standardization
Strong working knowledge of print production workflows (digital print preferred) and fulfillment operations
Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and fluctuating demand with calm competence
Communicate any potential risks and create mitigation options to solve for errors

Preferred

Experience leading a corporate or mid-large size business commercial print operation
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
Experience with job ticketing/work order systems, inventory tracking tools, and basic production reporting
