$13/hr - $20/hrThe City of Red Wing is seeking a summer intern to assist the Engineering Department in a full-time capacity. The intern will work closely with engineering staff and field crews, gaining hands-on experience and technical training in various engineering tasks.

Responsibilities
Update city infrastructure inventory lists
Scan and record documents using various digital storage programs
Assist in responding to residential complaints
Assist in field investigations of City Utility infrastructure
Assist in Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) inspections and documentation of the SWPPP program requirements
Assist Engineering Technicians with Construction Staking and Topographic Surveying
Assist Engineering Technicians with inspection of Municipal Street Construction Projects
Assist with construction administration duties including reviewing payroll certifications, project quantities, and punch list items
Assist the Engineer with various other tasks
Qualification
Required
Student must be enrolled in a civil engineering program at an ABET accredited engineering school with the goal of obtaining a bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Student must have completed a minimum of one (1) year of coursework to be eligible
Valid MN driver's license
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands
Solve problems independently with some direction
Works effectively in a team environment
Able to endure the outdoor elements of heat and humidity
Learn to read Construction Plan sets to assist Engineering Technicians in the field
Positive attitude and a good work ethic
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Self-motivated to meet deadlines
Attention to details and ability to contribute to a positive work environment
Demonstrates drive to achieve goals
Be able to traverse difficult terrain including steep, muddy, or rocky ground
Entry Level skills in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred
It is preferred they are in Civil Engineering, but other Engineering fields are fine
Entry level experience with CAD Technologies, GIS Systems, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Paint, and other mapping applications desirable
