Finance Manager National Grid Major Projects - South of England

ACCA Careers is seeking a Finance Manager to join the Finance team in Power T&D England & Wales. The role involves acting as a finance business partner, managing budgets, cost control, and financial reporting for various projects across the South of England.

Responsibilities

Budget Management. Develop and manage budgets for a portfolio of projects, ensuring accurate cost estimations, and tracking expenditures against approved budgets
Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to optimize project expenses without compromising quality, constantly seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
Working Capital Analysis: Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring timely payments to vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project operations
Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial reports feeding into project performance, cost trends, KPI’s and overall financial health
Manage period end reporting cycles
Ensure compliance with Gated Business Lifecycle
Visibility: Attend site meetings and site visits to ensure integration with the wider project teams
A good level of commercial understanding and experience of NEC option C and E contracts would be advantageous
Standardising an approach across all contracts and building a robust process to ensure the processes evolve and improve as more contracts are won
Provide necessary support to Commercial counterpart(s) working on individual contracts ensuring knowledge share and control of financial information in line with the contract
Ledger Management including Reconciliations, journals and validation of Revenue and profit reported

Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to create quality, well organised financial analysis from multiple data sources. Attention to detail and accuracy required
Strong communication, numerical and presentation skills including the ability to deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner, demonstrating initiative and resilience when challenged
Proactive, problem-solving individual who takes full ownership and accountability of their work
Confidence to work closely with the Commercial team and building good working relationships across the portfolio of projects
Act as a strong advocate for best practice, able to support and defend practical deployment and solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others

Preferred

Previous experience of Balfour Beatty systems including R12, Power BI, IRIS, PBCS would be beneficial
Strong commercial acumen is desired due to the need to interpret a wide range of contracts
Experience of contract reviews and commercial reporting desired
