Responsibilities

Manages the development and implementation of quality policies, procedures and process improvements to ensure that VACCO products and services meet specifications, regulatory and contractual requirements
Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
Formulates and maintains quality assurance/control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals
Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures
Oversee receipt inspection activities and in-process inspection for product throughout production cycle providing necessary manpower
Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and help minimize costs
Applies quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department
Manages workers engaged in inspection and testing activities as well as in quality engineering to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products
Work with vendors and Supplier Quality Manager to insure the quality of all purchased parts for company use
Play active role in assuring quality of all purchased parts for company use by responding to requests from Purchasing personnel for on-site source inspection when deemed necessary
Designs and implements quality assurance/control training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers
Investigates and responds to customer rejections or complaints with regard to quality
Responsible for Material Review Board (MRB), internal audits, corrective/preventive action process and the calibration system

Required

Previous Quality Assurance management experience preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment
Very strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence peers
Ability to make independent judgments and decisions in matters having an important influence on company image and product quality/reliability
Direct knowledge or experience with Six Sigma Training
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in all MS office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
Strong analytical skills and writing skills are required
Bachelor's degree (B.A./ B.S.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of management experience is required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Negotiation expertise is preferred
An ASQ Certification: CQA, CQM/OE preferred
