Facilities Manager

Responsibilities
Own day-to-day facility operations for a regional portfolio of veterinary hospitals, ensuring buildings, systems, and treatment spaces remain safe, functional, and compliant at all times
Plan, prioritize, and manage preventative maintenance and reactive repair activities across all assigned locations, with a focus on minimizing downtime and disruption to clinical operations
Serve as the primary facilities point of contact for Hospital Managers and Regional Leadership, translating operational and clinical needs into clear, actionable facility solutions
Manage all third-party service providers, including sourcing, scoping, bid comparison, price negotiation, and performance oversight; hold vendors accountable for quality, safety, timelines, and cost
Drive cost savings across facility spend through vendor consolidation, standardized repair approaches, preventative maintenance optimization, and disciplined scope control
Apply working knowledge of core MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and life-safety) to diagnose issues, validate contractor recommendations, and ensure repairs are appropriate, durable, and cost-effective
Coordinate landlord repairs and obligations where applicable, ensuring timely response and enforcement of lease responsibilities
Support minor capital, refresh, and improvement projects from scoping through close-out, including contractor coordination, schedule management, and on-site execution as required
Conduct regular site assessments to identify deferred maintenance, life-safety risks, and operational inefficiencies; develop prioritized work plans and support regional budgeting and forecasting efforts
Ensure facilities comply with applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards, including those specific to veterinary and clinical treatment environments
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to work orders, vendor performance, spend tracking, and facility condition, supporting visibility and decision-making at the regional and corporate level
Partner with the Corporate Facilities team to implement standard processes, tools, and best practices across the portfolio, supporting scalability and continuous improvement
Assist in developing and maintaining annual facility maintenance budgets
Monitor expenditures, verify vendor invoices, and ensure billing accuracy
Identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor consolidation, preventive maintenance, and operational efficiency
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred (Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field)
Minimum of Seven (7) years of experience in facilities management, with at least two (3) years managing multiple sites
Experience in veterinary, healthcare, or laboratory environments strongly preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building management systems
Familiarity with infection control, sanitation, and biosecurity standards in animal care environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility maintenance software systems
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to assigned hospitals
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform light physical maintenance tasks as needed
