Police Financial Manager
NEOGOV is looking for a Police Financial Manager to join the leadership team in the Tacoma Police Department's Financial Services Division. The role involves overseeing financial operations including budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting, while leading a team of three staff members.

Responsibilities
Oversee all financial operations to include budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, procurement, grants reporting, financial reporting, auditing, personnel organization management, and cash management functions
Lead a staff of three
Responsible for financial analysis, planning, and financial decision-making processes within the Tacoma Police Department
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration or related field
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the preparation and management of governmental budgets, banking and investment activities of a government entity, or in general governmental accounting
Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity
Knowledge of cost and revenue analysis
Knowledge of principles and practices of budget preparation and sound cash management
Knowledge of techniques, methods, and terminology used in budget analysis and financial reporting
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
Strong oral and written communications skills
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and training
Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of City organization, operations, policies, and objectives
Skills to prepare preliminary and bi-annual budget for Tacoma Police Department
Skills to analyze, review and prepare financial reports and supporting documents
Skills to prepare forecasts, projections, and models related to financial position of Tacoma Police Department
Skills to review and evaluate complex financial information and make appropriate recommendations
Skills to monitor and approve budget expenditures, amendments, and re-appropriations
Skills to read, interpret, apply, and explain codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Skills to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Skills to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Skills to meet schedules and timelines
Skills to work independently with little direction
Skills to plan and organize work
Skills to select, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel
