Mid LevelThe Midtown Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Tax Preparer to provide essential support during their busy tax seasons. The successful candidate will work on-site at a professional office environment, assisting with tax preparation and general bookkeeping tasks.

Responsibilities
Prepare individual and business tax returns, including W-2, 940, 941, and franchise filings
Assist with the management of accounting records using QuickBooks Desktop or similar accounting software
Ensure all tax documents are accurately prepared and submitted in compliance with current regulations
Provide support on tax season projects from early February through mid-April, with potential re-engagement in late summer (August-October)
Meet with clients as needed (on-site visits)
Maintain organized records and ensure deadlines are met efficiently
Support administrative and bookkeeping duties as required
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in tax preparation, with a solid understanding of tax forms and filings (W-2, 941, 940, franchise filings)
Familiarity with QuickBooks Desktop or similar accounting software
Strong knowledge of TaxSlayer Pro (or similar tax software)
Must possess a valid PTIN and demonstrate confidence in handling tax prep independently—no extensive training needed
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to hit the ground running
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during busy seasons
Preferred
Certified or completed coursework in tax preparation (e.g., IRS 1040/1120 courses preferred)
Experience with TurboTax or Drake is a plus
