RCT Technician II
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration. They are seeking a Radiological Control Technician II to perform radiological surveys, monitor conditions, and ensure safety compliance under guidance.

Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a qualified technician, perform radiological surveys and monitor radiological conditions and work practices utilized by Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) and/or subcontractors in assigned areas
Under the guidance of a qualified technician, prior to use, verify that radiological instrumentation is functioning properly. Such instrumentation includes, but is not limited to, air sampling equipment, dose rate meters, and contamination monitors
Under the guidance of a qualified technician, post various approved radiological signs to ensure that radiological worksites are properly identified to prevent unauthorized access
Performs work of limited complexity and scope, generally in support of scientists and engineers
Complete data collection problems of limited scope when established procedures exist
Possesses basic knowledge of operating principles, measurement standards, practices, and procedures
Follows established basic technical procedures for data collection and measurement
May perform routine work with minimal supervision and follows standard protocols when performing more complex tasks
Follow radiological work permits, work packages, and procedures, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with approved work control documents
Participate in briefings concerning radiological conditions and requirements of a particular work situation
Ensure generation of records for radiological surveys and other job activities utilizing appropriate forms and logbooks, as required
Implement stop work authority in a responsible manner when radiological or safety conditions warrant
Maintain training and qualifications current and attend onsite and offsite training as necessary to maintain competency in the radiological control field
Perform related work as assigned by supervisor under the guidance of a qualified technician
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in field related to the position or High School diploma plus 2 years' progressive related experience
Ability to work independently or in a team environment on a wide variety of tasks is critical
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook is required
Must be fitted for and qualify for use with various respiratory protection and personal protective equipment
Must be able to participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities
Must be able to qualify within 1 month of start date to the DOE Radiological Control Technician (RCT) standardized core training programs
Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review
Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age
