Responsibilities
Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs, and document medical history
Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments
Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, immunizations, and medication administration as directed
Manage patient flow, schedule appointments, and update electronic medical records (EMR)
Handle prior authorizations, prescription refills, and insurance verifications
Collect and process lab specimens, ensuring accurate documentation and handling
Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and medical supply inventory in accordance with infection control standards
Educate patients and families on care instructions, medications, and follow-up plans
Support front-desk operations including answering phones, patient registration, and billing assistance as needed
Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma/GED (required)
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (required)
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program – required
BLS certification (required)
Preferred
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, or hospital (preferred)
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
Proficiency with EMR systems and basic MS Office applications
