Procurement Engineer 1/2 (Engineering Technologist 1/2)
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The selected candidate will perform Procurement Engineering activities for construction programs, ensuring procured materials meet design requirements and managing the bill of materials.

Responsibilities
Perform Procurement Engineering activities for individually assigned projects in support of multiple construction programs in and around TA55
Extract technical data from engineering drawings and specifications to ensure procured materials meet design requirements as they pertain to national codes and standards as well as LANL quality requirements
Manage a consolidated bill of materials (CBOM), and interface with procurement and warehousing teams as materials are made available to support construction project objectives
Participate in IPT meetings and serve as a primary SCL-1 point of contact for project personnel
Qualification
Required
Reliable internet connection to enable offsite work
Report to site in Los Alamos as needed for project meetings, material walkdowns, and/or team meetings
The ability to work a shift schedule that could include night or weekend work depending on business needs
Initiate and manage shift hand off communication. Gather required information when coming on shift and report progress and ongoing action items when leaving
Familiarity with reviewing technical specifications and engineering design drawings to extract technical information
Basic understanding of national codes and standards used to establish material characteristics
Basic knowledge of QA standards and applicability
Ability to handle multiple activities with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Access, Excel & Word, along with experience using other relevant software programs
Ability to deliver clear and concise written and oral communication
Ability to work independently and in a team setting to deliver outstanding customer service
Basic understanding of the supply chain management process and strategies
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Experience with engineering principles and basic technical responsibilities, including design and systems technology
Ability to work independently, and take initiative to perform tasks that will provide succinct communication and guidance
Understanding and experience using QA standards, and familiarity with LANL Management Levels
Familiarity with developing and submitting pre-procurement and submittal evidence packages
Awareness of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline
Previous materials management experience
Ability to work and function with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with construction disciplines to include electrical, mechanical, fire protection
Familiarity with engineering technical standards to include ASTM and/or ASME standards
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Q clearance required
