Director of Finance and Development

The Director of Finance and Development is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the organization's financial health and compliance while developing fundraising strategies to support its mission.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and maintain the organization’s annual operating and program budgets in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer
Develop and maintain internal controls appropriate for a smaller organization while meeting federal program requirements
Monitor cash flow, reimbursement cycles, and financial performance to ensure organizational stability
Oversee the CACFP and SFSP claims submission process
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, forecasts, and key metrics for the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors
Oversee accounting staff for financial entries, reporting, budgets and overall cost controls
Plan, coordinate, and manage the annual financial audit, federal single audit process, and exempt organization tax return (Form 990) processes, including preparation and review of reconciliations, financial schedules, analyses, process narratives, and other ad hoc requests. Serve as primary liaison with our independent auditors and tax preparers
Under direction of the Chief Executive Officer, update Board of Directors on financials and budget
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals
Research and work with leadership staff on grant opportunities along with other areas for growth of nonprogram revenue
Work closely with the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer to develop fundraising strategies and goals
Develop relationships with local community and state agencies to promote CACFP, SFSP, and other food access and early childhood education related initiatives
Build relationships with supporting organizations and the surrounding community to promote CBS Food Program
Reviews and updates Management Plan and other company policies and procedures
Works with Chief Executive Officer and leadership staff on system improvements, strategic planning and goal and objective setting
Collaboration and communication with leadership team including the Chief Executive Officer, operations team, administrative teams and the Board of Directors on policies, regulations and projects
Manage timelines and due dates
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree
Previous management experience in a non-profit
Previous financial management experience
Experience in strategic plans and company goal setting
A passion for child nutrition
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word and QuickBooks. Understanding of other Office 365 and Adobe systems
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
High level of organization and attention to detail
Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies
A strong moral code and sense of ethics

Preferred

Knowledge and experience with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer Food Service Program, and National School Lunch Program
Experience working in a non-profit or government setting
Fluent in Spanish, Russian or French
