Responsibilities
Provides technical expertise and guidance to staff concerning the determination for suitability and reliability, and the resolution of derogatory information, in personnel security cases
Develops and implements organizational policies for intake and handling of initial vetting documents
Manages the periodic assessment and evaluation of security effectiveness in personnel security practices
Conducts high-level audits and reviews to ensure compliance with operational efficiency
Determines and develops necessary personnel security education and awareness training to ensure adherence with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and executive orders
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period
If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement
You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position
To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal service managing and conducting personnel security investigations in accordance with federal policy; demonstrating the ability to measure the timeliness and quality of an investigation and identifying deficiencies and taking corrective measures; analyzing and developing policies for a personnel security program and drafting written documentation; and experience conducting special investigations for complex and extremely sensitive and national security issues
