New Grad, Entry LevelNorth Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provides vital wholesale water, wastewater and solid waste management services to more than two million people in North Texas. The Sample Control Technician position supports the sample login process through customer service, data entry, and preparation of samples for laboratory testing.
Responsibilities
Serve as point of contact and provide customer service to internal and external laboratory clients
Assist sample control personnel with their workload as needed to ensure processing of samples and containers in a timely manner
Review work orders in LIMS to ensure information coincides with that on the Chain of Custody form
Serve as primary custodian which includes controlled distribution of sample containers to and from laboratory analysts
Ensure proper preservation, storage, retention and disposal of samples
Clean and prepare sample containers according to laboratory protocols
Prepare sample kits including labeling of containers and tracking of coolers
Receives laboratory supplies and process packing slips
Maintain equipment in laboratory to ensure proper cleanliness, the accuracy of measurements and functional operation
Various departmental duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualification
Required
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
Requires a valid Texas Driver's License
Must be capable of understanding laboratory procedures, policies and duties to be performed
Must develop degree of competence with sample control documentation, giving careful attention to details
Must understand federal, state and organizational sample collection and handling requirements
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and laboratory personnel
Must be able to operate and maintain equipment to be used
Must be able to use a computer
