Responsibilities
Leads participants in program activities and events in order to facilitate program objectives and maximize benefit to participants
Arranges equipment setup, supplies and materials
Maintains records and statistics of activities
Performs other duties as required
Maintains confidentiality of records and information as appropriate
Observes safe work practices
Represents the Town in a professional and courteous manner at all times
Regularly attends and is punctual for work
Qualification
Required
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally
Ability to provide a supportive, encouraging environment for program participants
Knowledge of computers and software applications for data entry
Skilled in understanding others' reactions to interactions and activities, through direct observation, inquiry and active listening
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including needs assessment, meeting quality service standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
Ability to push/pull/lift objects of up to 20 pounds, occasionally
Ability to sit or stand, frequently; walk for prolonged periods of time or stoop, occasionally
Ability to perform manipulative skills such as keyboarding or filing
Ability to see objects closely as in typing a document or reading a report; hear normal sounds with background noise, distinguish voice patterns and communicate with speech as in using a telephone
Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with some interruption, attend to task 60 minutes or more, remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods; understand and relate to specific ideas, generally, several at a time
Preferred
Experience working with older adults in social work, daycare, long-term care, or recreational setting
