Responsibilities
Strong knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles, including process design, line balancing, capacity analysis, PFMEA, control plans, and production readiness
Proven ability to conduct new product design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) reviews, identifying risks, manufacturability gaps, and improvement opportunities
Hands-on experience with process transfer / NPI ramp-up, including pilot run planning, yield improvement, cycle-time optimization, and cross-site transfer documentation
Capable of building process flow diagrams, standard work instructions, time studies, and workload analysis for new product introduction
Knowledge of automation concepts, including fixture design, error-proofing (poka-yoke), robotic automation, and semi/fully-automated station design
Ability to collaborate with automation engineers to translate production pain points into automation requirements, ROI justification, and feasibility evaluations
Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, JIT, Heijunka, VSM, SMED, and waste elimination methodologies
Understanding of manufacturing quality tools such as SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, and 8D problem solving
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent) for evaluating fixture, jig, or automation concepts
Experience with data analysis tools (Python, Minitab, JMP, or Power BI) for yield, cycle-time, and station performance analysis
Ability to create clear engineering documentation, including DFM reports, process validation reports, PFMEA, and transfer checklists
Experience working with R&D, manufacturing, quality, automation, and supply chain teams across regions
Ability to drive design-to-manufacturing alignment meetings, ensuring both product and process readiness
Strong communication skills for coordinating cross-regional process transfer and ensuring smooth SOP launch in receiving factories
Skilled in managing pilot builds, identifying risk items, and proposing corrective/preventive actions
Demonstrated ability to identify automation opportunities early during design review
Ability to evaluate automation feasibility, cycle-time expectations, required accuracy, and ergonomics improvements
Experience participating in automation specification writing, FAT/SAT review, and acceptance criteria development
Familiarity with robotics, machine vision, and industrial sensors is a plus
Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills
Ability to propose innovative production or design solutions to improve manufacturability, quality, and throughput
Comfortable operating in fast-paced NPI and cross-regional environments with ambiguous requirements
Qualification
Required
B.S. or M.S. degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
Solid understanding of DFM/DFA, process design, and manufacturability assessment for new product introduction
Experience with process transfer, including pilot build support, line balancing, time studies, and cycle-time optimization
Familiarity with automation concepts, fixture/jig evaluation, and error-proofing design
Knowledge of lean tools (5S, Kaizen, VSM, SMED) and basic quality systems (PFMEA, SPC, APQP, 8D)
Proficiency with engineering tools such as SolidWorks/Creo, and data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, or Python
Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Fluency in English; ability to work independently and with global teams
Preferred
Basic understanding of NPI workflows, prototype builds, and manufacturing ramp-up
Familiarity with DFM/DFA concepts and ability to spot basic manufacturability issues
Interest in automation, including robotics, machine vision, or error-proofing solutions
Exposure to lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, or line balancing projects
Knowledge of manufacturing quality basics like PFMEA, SPC charts, or structured problem solving
Hands-on experience with fixtures/jigs, process layouts, or time studies through coursework or internships
Ability to work collaboratively with R&D, automation, and production teams
Strong curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced engineering environment
