Assistant District Attorney
The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking an Assistant District Attorney to join the Office of the District Attorney in Prosecutorial District 38. The role involves prosecuting criminal cases, conducting legal research, preparing cases for trial, and meeting with victims of crime.

Responsibilities
Screen incoming cases using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of case facts
Research and identify precedence in case law
Utilize and evaluate electronic legal research and other research tools
Prepare cases for trial
Write and file any appropriate motions
Organize work
Set priorities
Meet critical deadlines
Follow up on assignments
Meet with victims of crime
Caseload may include district and superior court cases
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
active license to practice law in North Carolina
knowledge of federal, state, common, and constitutional law
knowledge of judicial procedures and rules of evidence
knowledge of case, statutory, and common law
knowledge of NC General Statutes to prosecute criminal cases
knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures
knowledge of legal research methods, techniques, sources, databases, and other research tools
knowledge of the principles and protocols for the evidentiary gathering of information, documents, financial records, and other data that may be used in trial court processes, protocols, and strategies
knowledge of the operations of the NC court system
knowledge of ethical and professional standards of conduct
