Responsibilities
Performs design and development on existing and custom engineered products used in electro-mechanical products. Direction is based upon marketing and purchasing input, both individually or under direction of more senior level design engineers. Develop or modify product specifications in accordance to customer requirements
Identify and validate appropriate codes and agency standards and testing requirements, conduct testing and document results
Create sketches, 3D files and prototype designs to provide different options that are used to satisfy the product requirements. Then evaluate these concepts to choose the best design for Wiremold. Create final 3D models, assemblies, and drawings to refine, develop and finalize the design
Interface and direct offshore design teams through the product development cycle. To include product concept, design, documentation and production as need
Refine and complete the design through modeling, prototyping, testing, analysis, piloting, and inspection of processes and first articles. Work closely with Advanced Manufacturing, Tool Shops and Manufacturing to procure prototype and production product components
Complete product documentation to support production, including engineering drawings and specifications, bills of materials, and quality requirements and testing
Managing projects to rapid and effective completion including spanning departmental gaps
Performs other similar and related duties as required
Qualification
Required
4-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
1-3 years engineering experience is required, design experience preferred
Understanding engineering concepts, materials and manufacturing processes
Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software
Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively
Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software
Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment
Demonstrated creativity in the development of new product design concepts
Good hands on skills for creating prototypes to express design concepts
Requires strong organizational and time management skills
Close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities
Must possess good project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan
Must have good verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information
Demonstrated ability to understand customer's needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer

Proficient in SolidWorks
