Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data engineering solutions on the Azure cloud platform, supporting structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
Build and manage data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Pipelines, following best practices for reliability and scalability
Develop and optimize enterprise data warehouses and data lakes using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), and Azure SQL
Implement ETL/ELT processes using PySpark, Spark SQL, SQL, and Python, ensuring efficient data processing and performance tuning
Work with big data and distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark within Azure Databricks for large-scale data transformations
Design and enforce data modeling standards, including dimensional and normalized models, to support analytics and reporting use cases
Ensure data quality, data governance, and metadata management by implementing validation, monitoring, and lineage solutions
Integrate data from multiple sources, including relational databases, APIs, streaming sources, and third-party systems, into centralized Azure data platforms
Leverage Azure security and compliance features, including role-based access control, encryption, and secure networking, to protect sensitive data
Implement CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workloads using Azure DevOps, Git, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as ARM templates or Terraform
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and platforms using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and performance metrics
Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, BI developers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and business-aligned data solutions
Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, mentor junior data engineers, and promote best practices in cloud data engineering
Qualification
Required
10+ years of overall experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or big data development
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Databricks
Advanced proficiency in SQL, with experience in query optimization and performance tuning
Strong programming experience in Python and/or PySpark for data processing and automation
Solid understanding of ETL/ELT architectures, data integration patterns, and distributed data processing concepts
Experience working with large-scale datasets and big data technologies, particularly Apache Spark
Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques (dimensional, star/snowflake schemas)
Experience implementing cloud-native, scalable, and fault-tolerant data solutions
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and DevOps practices for data platforms
Strong understanding of data security, governance, and compliance in cloud environments
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with excellent communication and collaboration skills
