Responsibilities

Assist with engineering assignments related to manufacturing processes and equipment
Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and improve production operations
Support documentation efforts, including initiating and revising technical documents and tracking approvals
Participate in cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
Provide technical support on components, materials, and manufacturing methods
Assist an engineering project leader by completing technical tasks such as design and solid modeling, coordinating purchasing or assembly of components, and implementing improvements using standard validation processes
Act as an engineering representative for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams. Intern will help the TPM team identify, isolate, and solve reoccurring production problems
Analyze design inputs and prepare written and oral project updates
Collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend solutions for process optimization
Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures
Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles
Maintain professional working relationships with internal teams and external partners

Required

Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
Ability to commute to Sumter, SC
Basic understanding of engineering principles and ability to apply them in a practical setting
Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion360, AutoCad) and basic product design concepts
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Ability to perform testing using written instructions and comprehend basic descriptive statistics
Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic software applications
Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with data collection and analysis
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies
Oral and written presentation skills
