The Junior IT Engineer will provide support for the State of Michigan’s Enterprise Container Services team, focusing on operational support and troubleshooting within a container environment built on OpenShift.

Responsibilities
Support the State of Michigan’s Enterprise Container Services platform used by multiple state agencies for application deployments
Provide hardware and software support for container services using OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) to ensure high availability
Respond to and resolve support tickets related to container platform operations, including namespace creation, deployment issues, access requests, and configuration problems
Troubleshoot application and platform issues by reviewing logs, configurations, and system behavior to determine root cause
Assist with the administration and maintenance of the OpenShift Container Platform to ensure availability, stability, and performance
Perform Linux server and container platform support tasks under guidance from senior engineers
Monitor the container environment and escalate issues as needed to maintain service availability
Assist with repeatable operational tasks and contribute to automation efforts using scripting or automation tools
Use Azure DevOps for source control and management of infrastructure-as-code artifacts
Document troubleshooting steps, configurations, and standard operating procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience
0-3 years of experience in IT, infrastructure, systems administration, or a related technical role
Basic knowledge of Linux or Unix operating systems
Understanding of containerization concepts and how containers are used to deploy applications
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and eagerness to learn in an enterprise IT environment supporting software systems, operating systems, and network server hardware
Preferred
Exposure to Kubernetes or OpenShift is helpful but not required
Any experience with automation or scripting tools such as Ansible or Python is a plus
