Major Contracting Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team and play a vital role during the pre-construction phase of projects. The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, leading bid proposals, and collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction projects, factoring in materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses
Lead the preparation and review of bid proposals. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather essential information for submission
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and related documents to assess scope, cost implications, and project requirements
Obtain and review quotes from vendors and subcontractors and negotiate pricing to ensure the best value for the company
Track project costs during construction and provide regular reporting to stakeholders and project managers to support budget adherence
Identify potential cost-related risks and uncertainties, offering strategies to mitigate them effectively
Partner with internal teams—including project managers, engineers, and designers—to ensure alignment and accuracy in every estimate

Required

At least 4 years of experience in estimating within the civil construction industry
Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
Proficient with estimation software and familiar with current construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Strong analytical skills with an exceptional eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with clients, vendors, and team members
Skilled at identifying challenges and developing practical, results-oriented solutions

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
