Cost Accountant - Aerospace-DOD-Environment
Entegee is a company specializing in manufacturing cost accounting within the aerospace sector. They are seeking a Cost Accountant to provide support in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory control, and variance analysis in a standard cost environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain the manufacturing plant cost accounting systems, cost controls, and data integrity
Coordinate and analyze manufacturing financial performance, including daily sales/cost-of-sales analysis, labor productivity, and production KPI reporting
Manage product costing activities, including standard cost loads, assembly cost rollups, and standard cost update processes and analysis
Develop and monitor labor and overhead rates by department/cost center; validate rates and cost accuracy with manufacturing engineering
Review routings and bills of material for reasonableness and accuracy; support annual standard cost update preparation and analysis
Plan and coordinate cycle counts; analyze results, issue reports, and reconcile financial inventory to perpetual records; coordinate with production, stockrooms, and vendors
Review, close, and reconcile manufacturing work orders; process inventory and production-related journal entries
Perform monthly manufacturing variance analysis, including labor utilization/efficiency, purchase price variance, and material usage variance; investigate anomalies and document root causes
Analyze and report inventory balances and reserves, including E&O, slow-moving, obsolete, scrap, and intercompany transfers
Oversee annual fixed asset physical inventory; track capital project spending and maintain capital roll-forward
Prepare monthly plant performance reports and explain variances versus forecasts and budgets
Support internal and external audits, including audit requests and control evidence
Assist with annual operating and capital budgeting processes
Support planning and scheduling teams to improve inventory controls and reduce excess/obsolete inventory
Support proposal preparation activities requiring cost/price data packages for government contracts
Produce ad-hoc reporting, financial analysis, and special project support as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience in a standard cost environment (discrete/job production preferred)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience maintaining cost accounting systems, product costing, and standard cost updates in an ERP
Experience with inventory accounting, cycle counts, reconciliations (financial to perpetual), and inventory adjustments
Experience performing actual-to-standard variance analysis (labor, material usage, purchase price)
Experience with SOX internal control compliance and documentation (Section 404)
Ability to prepare recurring journal entries related to inventory, labor, and cost of sales
Preferred
CPA or CPA candidate
MBA or CMA
Experience with Oracle and/or HFM
Aerospace & Defense manufacturing experience
Government cost accounting experience, including proposal cost/price data packages
Experience with COPQ tracking and production KPI reporting
Experience managing fixed asset physical inventory and capital roll-forward tracking
