Quality & Safety Lead
Thruway Fasteners, Inc. is one of the leading distributors of industrial products, supplying hundreds of original equipment manufacturers. The Quality & Safety Lead will assist in compliance with the Quality Management System and improve quality performance, customer satisfaction, and technical alignment of products.
Responsibilities
Conduct timely and accurate inspections of incoming items requiring quality inspection
Evaluate and review customer drawings and specifications against supply chain provided products to ensure products meet or exceed all requirements
Facilitate approval of alternate products as needed with Customer and Thruway teams
Perform final pack audits as required
Prepare and submit accurate quality documentation (e.g., MTRs, CoCs, FAIs, ISIRs, PPAPs) to meet customer requirements
Maintain and coordinate calibration of measuring and testing equipment, ensuring all resources are properly documented
Maintain the branch calibration log
Assist the CQM and GM in training and ensuring branch personnel follow the Thruway quality manual (QM), procedures (PR), and work instructions (WI). Elevate non-compliance to the General Manager and Corporate Quality Manager
Notify the CQM of any ideas for improvement, with suggestions and reasoning
Prepare for and undergo audits: Customer and/or Certification as needed
Perform and document monthly 6S Audits. Distribute audit report to the the General Manager and Corporate Quality Manager
Help coordinate the completion action items required to rectify any 6S audit findings
Enforce safety measures and implement safety training as required
Identify potential safety hazards and implement proactive measures to prevent incidents and accidents
Support the development and reinforcement of a strong safety culture where every team member is empowered and accountable for maintaining a safe work environment
Act as point person between customer and Thruway ‘s supply chain on all branch quality issues
Escalate major quality issues to the General Manager and Corporate Quality Manager
Issue, respond, complete and close CAPA’s as required, without un-due delay
Review Branch Parts-Per-Million (PPM) returns to ensure proper reason codes were utilized
Assist with physical inventory and warehouse functions as required and timely
Qualification
Required
Documented Experience (2+ years) in a direct quality role
Experience in manufacturing environments and Electro/Mechanical hardware
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP systems
Safely operate forklift and pallet jacks
Problem-solving, time-management, organizational and analytical ability
Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards
Self-motivated
Team player who works productively with wide range of people
