Data Analyst
Texas A&M University - Texarkana is seeking a Data Analyst to support the IT Data Services Team. The role involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights for decision-making while maintaining data quality and supporting enterprise data initiatives.

Responsibilities
Develops, maintains, and updates databases, datasets, and data models to support IT and university analytics needs
Supports data integration efforts, including extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) processes for specialized projects
Ensures data quality, consistency, and integrity across data systems
Collects, validates, and processes data from multiple internal systems and external sources
Responds to requests for information by preparing ad hoc reports, recurring reports, dashboards, and query analyses in various formats
Compiles data into clear, accessible reports for technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses using standard statistical and analytical methods
Interprets data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform strategy, operations, and organizational planning
Develops and maintains historical, comparative, and longitudinal datasets
Presents analytical findings, trends, and technical information to a variety of audiences at meetings, trainings, or public forums
Collaborate with IT staff, data stewards, and business units to ensure consistent use of enterprise data
Translates technical data concepts into meaningful insights for non‑technical users
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related experience
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write moderate to complex queries in SQL or WebFOCUS programming language
Ability to run, analyze, and extract data using statistical analysis tools like SPSS, SAS, STATA, Python, or similar software & languages
Ability to analyze, extract, and present insights from large datasets
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
Ability to maintain a regular schedule of attendance on campus, including face-to-face interactions
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field (Data Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.)
Experience working effectively with individuals who have a variety of work styles and communication approaches
Experience working in customer service or other related and oriented role
Experience with business intelligence software, Business Objects and/or Power BI
Knowledge in institutional research, faculty/student data, and university ecosystems
Previous experience with higher education and ERP software systems such as Banner or PeopleSoft
