Adheres and conforms to quality assurance and safety programs and procedures in the laboratory. Leads by example in regard to quality assurance and safety activities. Responsible for safe handling of hazardous chemicals
Prepares reports on special assignments
Under the direction of supervisor, researches new methodologies and suggests implementation of novel techniques for diagnostic testing. Develops and implements new tests (includes writing SOPs, completion of validation/development records, and submission through quality management software), instrument configuration and documentation of assay protocols, performs test validation and verification. Performs data collection and data analysis, as well as drafts manuscripts for publication. Writes journal articles and presents at scientific sessions documenting research discoveries. Researches, writes and edits applications for grant funding. Writes/edits and presents at scientific venues
Manages inventory and procurement process for laboratory supplies. Works closely with Finance staff to adhere to procurement and purchasing procedures. Consults with supervisor on purchases, vendors selection, optimization of purchasing process. May order supplies for the section. Takes good care of equipment, performs regular maintenance, defrost/wash (where applicable), and calibration. Notifies supervisor when external maintenance or repair is needed
