Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities

Runs computer payroll programs and subroutines to process biweekly payroll for non-management employees
Initiates time and attendance processes and follows through to completion
Enters all adjustments in Lawson, maintains graduate medical education and research standard time records
Completes or responds to verifications of employment from various lending institutions, local agencies, or other organizations and completes unemployment fraud reports, etc
Creates and initiates transfer of direct deposit file and federal and FICA taxes
Initiates and follows through with printing, sealing, sorting, distributing and mailing of checks, receipts and W2s
Advises employees on matters related to payroll policies and procedures, including clarifications on earnings, withholding and other deductions
Prepares manual checks, stops payment notices, and files and makes copies of payment records for various departments
Performs other related duties as required

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll systems and processing or an accounting setting; OR 1 year of payroll experience with a bachelor's degree
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and professionally work with people from all backgrounds
Organization and prioritization skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
Decision-making and delegation skills
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
